Speech Production
To date, I have designed and run three speech production experiments, and I have played a secondary role in another. You can read about one of the production experiments I designed in my JASA paper, co-authored with Ken de Jong (there is a link to the pdf on my CV page). The Matlab code I used to extract various spectral and temporal measures from fricatives is available to the left.
I am currently working on two production projects. One is designed to map high(er)-dimensional acoustic-phonetic space onto low(er)-dimensional phonological space in English obstruents, both for the sake of understanding these relationship in and of themselves and to generate materials and associated predictions for later perceptual work. The other is designed, in the short run, to analyze some of the acoustic characteristics of multi-talker babble and, in the long run, to create a web-based application to make user-specified multi-talker babble available to interested researchers.
